Dance Off: 50 days of dancing and romancing coming up for Isabelle and Sooraj

The days of practice are finally drawing to an end. The Isabelle Kaif-Sooraj Pancholi love-and-dance affair will tee off in London in the second half of April. This Stanley D’Costa directorial debut has been in the planning stages for more than a year. The film will finally start shooting and this must be great news to its lead pair, who have been killing themselves practising!

Said a thrilled Isabelle, “I can’t wait to start work on my first Hindi film. We will be in London for around 50 days and will shoot in a start-to-finish schedule.” Apparently, Isabelle will play a competitive ballroom and Latin dancer in the film. Sooraj will essay a street dancer showcasing the Salsa, Zumba and Bachata styles.

Producer Bhushan Kumar, who is producing the dance-drama along with Remo D’souza, confirmed that this was the first time a Hindi film would showcase so many dance forms. He added, “Stanley has been working rigorously with Isabelle and Sooraj for the last two months. We are looking at releasing the film in the last quarter of 2018.”

Debutant director Stanley admits that the dance forms were not easy to pick up “but Sooraj and Isabelle have made immense progress”. He adds, “They look fabulous together in a dance film with a love story woven into it.” Tentatively titled Time to Dance, the film features a whole range of styles, from Ballroom dance styles like Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep, to Latin dance styles like Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive.

All this rigorous dancing has taken its toll on Sooraj, who actually fell ill under the strain. “I have fallen sick after training for 10-12 hours every day but now my body is getting used to it. It has been around three months since Isabelle and I started training for the film. It feels like going back to school,” he smiles.
