“He has made me more focused,” says Tiger’s special girl, Disha Patani

Disha Patani insists on denying that she and Tiger Shroff are anything more than good co-stars and great friends. “Initially we’d talk about these stories, but now I’m over it,” she claims. She admits that her alleged beau’s mom, Ayesha sends her home-cooked food to the sets, but shoots, “What’s wrong with that? Come on, surely this can’t be news when so much is happening in politics.” Well, in the sphere of filmland goss, it is news, Disha darling!

She will, however, rave about Tiger, whom she idolizes for his hard work, passion and martial arts skills. “He has made me more focused,” she maintains. In fact, she goes so far as to claim that he is a lot like her childhood idol, Jackie Chan. She had co-starred in the adventure comedy Kung Fu Yoga in which Chan had also featured, so she should know!

Call it love or just self-confidence but she is not at all afraid of the more experienced Tiger stealing her thunder in Baaghi 2. “I never think that way. In my debut film, I was there for just 10 minutes but people liked me. You’ll know why I did Baaghi 2 once you see it. We did a lot of workshops with Ahmed sir (director Ahmed Khan) and were so prepped up that we’d can shots in one or two takes,” she informs.

What she actually found tough, she says, was the song-and-dance sequences! “Tiger and I killed it with our moves, but getting the expressions right took a while since I’m a shy girl in real life, a bit of a tomboy really,” she says.

Disha is yearning for stronger roles to come her way, “but unfortunately in India, not too many strong roles are written for girls,” she sighs. She dreams of playing Wonder Woman someday. Meanwhile, she does have a role to show her strong side – she has replaced Shruti Haasan as a warrior princess in Sundar C’s Sangamithra. The film will reportedly release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. “I will be learning sword-fighting for it,” she enthuses.

Clearly, Tiger’s girl is quite the tigress herself!
