Lights out: Viral infection forces Shahid to stop shooting

There’s a reason why Shahid Kapoor and Mira look so grim as they returned to the city. Mira and Misha are a tad under the weather but it’s Shahid who is suffering from a rather nasty viral infection that forced him to return to the city, cutting short his shooting schedule in the outskirts of Dehradun.

The strain has evidently taken a toll on the actor. He has been caught up in a month-long shooting schedule for his upcoming film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu in Uttarakhand. However, he developed a viral infection which worsened since last week. Apparently, it was while he was shooting for a courtroom scene earlier this week that Shahid’s health became a concern. The star already had a sore throat and complained of uneasiness during the shoot.

Sources from the set of this Shree Narayan Singh directorial reveal that Shahid had been feeling unwell on Monday itself but continued shooting so as not to disrupt the schedule. However, his bad throat took a turn for the worse as he had to deliver his courtroom dialogues in a high tone. Tuesday saw him down with a high fever. The doctor who had been consulted recommended complete rest, besides advising him not to strain his vocal cords. Shooting for the day was cancelled.

Determined not to delay the shoot, Shahid arrived on set the following day and resumed shooting. However, the viral infection appeared to have worsened and his health deteriorated. The makers insisted that he fly back home to recuperate and recover fully.

The star, along with Mira and Misha, has returned to the city. Apparently, Shahid was not at all keen to leave the schedule incomplete. The good part is he has just three days of work left in this schedule, and the producers have assured him that the incomplete portions will be accommodated in the next schedule of filming in April.

Time for some much-needed R&R for the star, who did not bask in the super-success of his Padmaavat before plunging into work...
