‘Hichki’: Once called an ‘Ordinary looking guy’, Ajay Devgn has ‘made it big’ in Bollywood

Unquestionably one of the most powerful actors we have in Bollywood was certainly made conscious of his looks. Ajay Devgn, who has been mounting success at the box office with latest crime-thriller Raid, is definitely a superstar in all manners. From serious roles and disturbing portrayals to hilarious comedy, he has given it all to the audiences.

In a candid conversation with Rani Mukerji, who was his co-star in movies LOC Kargil and Yuva, Ajay opened up and shared the biggest Hichki in his professional life. He said, “When I had started out in the industry, there was this huge buzz that he is a very ordinary looking guy and he won’t make it. He won’t become a hero. I used to hear all of that, and it felt like a Hichki. But finally, I didn’t listen to any of that and went ahead (with my acting).”

Though, he kicked his insecurities aside and went ahead. And we all know how that turned out to be. His latest film is on its way to becoming one of the big hits of the year so far. Rani will be soon seen in Hichki, which will be her big comeback on the big screen after a long gap. She was last seen in Mardaani. Hichki is slated to release on March 23, 2018. The film is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and is produced by Maneesh Sharma.

In the film, Rani plays a school teacher but with a twist. She is suffering from a disorder called Tourette syndrome. The incurable neurological condition causes repeated involuntary vocal tic. Though, in spite of her condition she goes ahead to become a school teacher, she encounters bullying and is made fun of by her students. But nothing stops her; she goes on and changes the lives of these students – for better.
