The phenomenal Rajkummar Rao is no longer just a critics’ favourite, or the darling of off-beat cinema only. His performances have been bringing him awards, attention and box office success galore. No wonder he now has none less than Deepika Padukone keen to work with him!
Apparently, B-town’s reigning queen caught up with the big screen sensation at the recent Hello Hall of Fame Awards. Incidentally, both took home trophies that night – Deepika for Entertainer of the Year (Female) and Rajkummar for Best Actor Popular Choice.
The two got chatting, even as Deepika’s alleged beau Ranveer beamed on. What’s more, the actress went ahead and shared with Rao that she can’t wait to work with him! In fact, there is a strong buzz that the two might actually be offered a project together soon. Now that would be something to watch out for!
The rare spark of 34-year-old Rao’s talent was noticed from his very first film. From his film debut in Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010), to Kai Po Che!, followed by his portrayal of Shahid Azmi in the critically acclaimed biographical drama Shahid, he has carved his reputation as one of the finest and most versatile actors of his generation.
He has simply been raising the bar with every successive performance, be it Queen, CityLights, Aligarh, Trapped, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Newton. From National awards to popular film awards, they all grace his shelf. He is also working opposite an interesting line-up of actresses – there’s Fanne Khan with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Stree with Shraddha Kapoor, and Mental Hai Kya with Kangana Ranaut. Deepika could just be the next big name decorating his professional ‘Hall of Fame’!
Post-Padmaavat, Deepika has been on a break owing to a back and neck injury. Speaking to the media, she shared, “My back is good. I have received a lot of love and wishes. I am starting physiotherapy soon. There is nothing to worry about.”
Given that her Vishal Bhardwaj film has been delayed owing to Irrfan Khan’s ill health, it will be interesting to see what the actress chooses next.
