Pet Wars: What gets Kiran irritated with Aamir…

Aamir Khan unveiled the book titled 'How To Be Human - Life Lessons by Buddy Hirani' penned by Manjeet Hirani. Yes, the author is a pilot, influencer-speaker and wife of iconic filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. She writes about attachment, parenting, and karma, among other things, via their pet, Buddy. Manjeet shows how having a doggie in the house can alter your perspective and change the way you experience life.

The unveiling, of course, gave us more insights into Aamir Khan, who was surprised to learn that he has a special appearance in the book – apparently, Buddy is just like him! He was informed, “Buddy is extremely disciplined, he eats only 60 gm of dog food a day.” Since Buddy couldn’t answer, it was left for Aamir to shed light on how to achieve that level of discipline…

Discipline Myth

“Actually, I am not disciplined at all. You must know this about me – I am totally undisciplined. The only thing that gets me disciplined is my work. So if I was not an actor and I was not in this field, I would have been the most undisciplined person. People who are close me know that it only works that puts me back on track and doing what I have to do,” Aamir maintained.

Living in the Now

The star also shared that he rarely thinks beyond the present. “I live in the now. And I never have long-term plans, it’s always what I want to do right now. I have realised that no matter what I’m doing right now, the entire focus is on that one thing – whether it’s eating, meeting somebody, watching a film, or in a discussion with someone, or shooting or working. Whatever I’m doing at that time, I’m fully into that and nothing else distracts me. So, for me, it comes naturally. I don’t think ‘Kal kya hoga? Parso kya hoga?’ Sometimes I do multi-task if it’s absolutely necessary but I don’t enjoy that, so by and large I don’t.”

The Favourite

Aamir also shared an interesting insight into his family’s pets and their absolute fave – himself! “Peanuts, Choti, Imli… all the three dogs that I’ve had have been really loving to me. They were very unconditional, totally non-judgemental. But Kiran gets very irritated with me, because all the times that we’ve had dogs, and Imli has been the one that Kiran gives most attention to - Azad and Kiran give maximum attention to Imli - but Imli is always following me around! So Kiran feels this is really unfair!”

Autobiography Plans

Quizzed on what he would choose to write on, he replied, “I haven’t really thought about it, but I guess for me the most natural thing would be to write about my experiences in my career, in my life. So, a book on my life, you know… That’s if I do write it. There have been many offers but right I’m involved with so many film-related things that I don’t have the time to sit back and think about my life and write. Sometimes I feel I should just record it for now.”

He also received an offer to turn his memoirs into a film – from his filmmaker buddy, Raju Hirani sitting just next to him!
