Kriti, Taapsee will go bang-bang!

This is a film that has got our antennae up alright…

Last month it was reported that Pink sensation, Taapsee Pannu would be seen essaying the role of a shooter in Womaniya. The film would apparently be greenlit by Anurag Kashyap with a new director coming on board.

It had been revealed that the film would follow the exploits of two professional women shooters and their success story against all odds. Pegged to be a two-heroine project, Taapsee had been confirmed for one role, while the makers were still looking to cast the other role. Both actresses would require training in shooting before the film kicked off to maintain authenticity, it was said.

There have been developments since then. Apparently, the parallel lead of this film, which is inspired by the real-life success stories of several women professional shooters, has been almost cast. It’s none other than Kriti Sanon who has been approached to play the other role in the two-heroine project, Womaniya.

Buzz goes that Kriti has heard the script and liked it. It will be a great chance for both actresses to showcase their powerhouse skills. What’s more, since the story is told in flashback, they will reportedly even be playing 60-year-olds in some portions of the film. As of now, both girls have some serious training in the offing, before shooting commences by mid-year.

A Phantom Films’ project, Womaniya will be produced by its four ‘leading men’ - Madhu Mantena, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl. A new director will be bringing this story of women professional shooters to life.

Should it work out, the casting of Womaniya is pretty much on target. Taapsee has made a name for herself as a no-nonsense gal both onscreen and off it, post her performance in Pink. She is also known to give it back to haters who troll her on social media. Kriti Sanon too is a down-to-earth lass with a non-coy attitude. These chicas should absolutely hit bull’s eye in Womaniya.
