Bloody bathtubs & Hanging Heads… Pari trailer petrifies!

This Holi, the devil’s out to play.

The Pari official trailer is out and gosh, it’s so not the bright and perky start you would want to a Thursday morning! But better morning than a Thursday night, we guess…! Horror mode on, as a top shot of a floating Anushka Sharma fills the screen, sheets fluttering on strings.

Bahaar aiyee hai uspe,” a woman’s voice chants. ‘Kahan hai woh?’’ a man asks. “Nahin pata. Jis kaam ke liye bani hai na, woh kaam samjho ho gaya.” Next, a terrified woman is found crouching in a corner in need of help. A kind and helpful man takes her in, in spite of his mother’s reluctance to get involved. The woman believes she will be killed. ‘Who wants to kill you?’ the kind man asks. She doesn’t know. Meanwhile she insinuates herself closer to him, pleads that he shouldn’t leave her. Another scene, a shocker: her head hangs demonically downwards over a window. The man is advised that he should let her go; she is not worthy of his compassion. Shackled by chains in a ward of a hospital, the nightmare continues. Scarred faces torment her. A bloody bathtub, a snarling dog, chases through the night, whip-lashings, violent attacks… The Devil’s out to play indeed!

On Valentine’s Day, the actress had released another clip from her upcoming film which had further raised the intrigue quotient in the spooky thriller. It showed her sitting beside co-star Parambrata Chatterjee watching TV. In the deadpan voice from the tomb, Anushka tells Parambrata that she loves him and the two smile. What happens next is chilling… Anushka had tweeted the teaser, along with an invite to the brave-hearted to be her Valentine! Nice sense of humour, ha?

Despite all the teasers and the trailer, a shroud of suspense continues to envelop Pari, which releases on March 2. The cast and crew have maintained a tight-lipped secrecy around the film. The teasers of the film suggest that it is a supernatural horror story; however there is a suggestion that Anushka’s character is a victim of abuse. The promos repeat “Not a fairytale”.

Phew, we think they have made their point amply clear!
