This being their first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife, you would have expected Anushka Sharma to be overly demonstrative on social media with her love for husband Virat Kohli who is playing cricket in South Africa. Instead, the actress released another clip from her upcoming film Pari that’s only raised the intrigue quotient in the spooky thriller further.

In this third screamer, Anushka is seen sitting beside co-star Parambrata Chatterjee watching TV. In the deadpan voice from the tomb she’s used for the earlier teasers, Anushka tells Parambrata that she loves him and the two smile. What happens next is chilling. Watch it for yourself. Anushka tweeted with the teaser, inviting the brave-hearted to be her Valentine. Bet there were no takers.

As yet, not much is known about Pari, and the cast and crew are tight-lipped and maintaining the suspense. This has to be the most mysterious character Anushka has played. Certainly, the actress was seen in a murderous avatar in her 2015 production NH10 where she systematically goes on a brutal revenge spree and kills a gang responsible for the death of her lover.

While the teasers of Pari suggest the film is a supernatural horror story, buzz is that Anushka’s character is a victim of abuse. It does appear that the actress is pushing the bar with her home productions, however. Phillauri, the second film produced by her studio Clean Slate Films after NH10, was about superstitions. And now Pari – which the promos repeat is “Not a fairytale”. Of that, is there any doubt?
