Akshay Kumar speculated to play Verghese Kurien in upcoming biopic

Rumour mills have been churning and Akshay Kumar is at the center of it! Several reports are doing the rounds suggesting that Akshay Kumar will play the lead role as Dr. Verghese Kurien in Ekta Kapoor's next.

However while some rumors believe that he will play the part, other sources have to say otherwise. A source said the makers were assuming he would agree to do the project, given his good relations with producer Ekta and the director. But the actor feels there is not much he could possibly bring on screen as Shyam Benegal has already made a classic on the man, Manthan.

Ekta who acquired the film rights to the book 'I Too Had a Dream' has roped Toilet: Ek Prem Katha's director Shree Narayan Singh to helm the biopic. Based on the man who brought about the milk revolution in India, this will be Akshay's seventh biopic if the actor decides to go on board.

If the actor goes on board with this film, he will be marking his seventh biopic. His journey with biopics started off with Special 26 followed by Rustom based on the Nanavati murder case and Airlift based on the Kuwait evacuation. His recent release Padman is based on the life of Arunachalam Murugatham and his invention of cheaper means of sanitary napkins.

Akshay has two more released slated for the year, Gold which will portray India's first gold medal win at the Olympics, set in 1948. And Mogul, which is based on the legend of music Gulshan Kumar.
