Does that hurt? Jacqueline not in Kick 2!

The Kick 2 field is wide open, where the casting of the female lead is concerned! Contrary to public expectation, Jacqueline Fernandez will not feature in the sequel to the very successful Kick. This is rather a shocking move, considering it had been pretty much assumed that the gorgeous lass would feature in Kick 2 when the film had been announced by Sajid Nadiadwala and NGE. What’s more, she had made a great pair with Salman Khan in the original which had released in 2014.

However, now it has been revealed that the makers are scouting for a different heroine and have already approached certain actresses – a lead role opposite the reigning supremo Salman will not stay un-cast for long!

Yesterday the release date - Christmas 2019 – had been revealed, but there is no mention of the female lead yet. Apparently, Deepika Padukone had been approached for the part a few months ago but it hasn’t worked out. As of now, three top actresses are in the running for the role and the Nadiadwalas are expected to issue a confirmation soon.

So does that feel like a kick in the ribs for Jackie, to be ousted when you thought the sequel had your name written all over it? Not really. Apparently, there is no issue behind why she wasn’t cast for the sequel. The makers simply felt that since she already features opposite Salman in Race 3, the pairing would end up looking a tad repetitive. What’s more, Jackie’s track had ended in Kick, while the sequel will have a new plot and character. Casting a different female lead was thus in the offing all along.

Jacqueline had to have been kept in the loop as well, considering just yesterday she was counting Salman and Sajid Nadiadwala among her closest friends. “I’m blessed to have such solid people like Sajid Nadiadwala and his family, Salman and his family, the Dhawans. With them, the relationships are not fragile.”
