“Now I realise that love is peace”: Mahira Khan’s new tune

One has to admire Mahira Khan’s gift for staying in the news. The actress was recently asked if she was in love. She responded by saying, “No, actually,” adding, “No, I have been, I was. Now, I realize that love is peace. Love is when you are with somebody and it’s okay and you don’t have to talk. Their presence is important.”

‘Peace’ is surely not what her alleged brief romance with the very desirable Ranbir Kapoor brought her. The duo had got papped in New York, sharing a cosy street-side smoke and all hell had broken loose. Even as Mahira faced a deluge of completely unjustified slut-shaming, RK’s dad Rishi had risen to defend RK. This little liaison had appeared to spook his own protective mommy Neetu and next we heard, she had whisked off sonny boy to London for a hush-hush meeting with a suitable girl from a dignified and wealthy clan.

Back then, Ranbir had stepped in to stem the hate being poured on Mahira, saying, “I've gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months. She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful god gifted lives. Peace and love.”

Speculation had been rife that the two were dating after they had hit it off at the Global Teacher Prize event in Dubai. However, the relationship has evidently not been able to survive the intense scrutiny… and don’t forget Ranbir’s old commitment phobia! Neither of them had confirmed nor denied the rumours of their dating. And now, all we do hear is Mahira dropping philosophical hints about love that was lost!
