16 years of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and we are in rewind mode!

It’s 16 full years since we first danced to ‘Bole Chudiyan’, or wept buckets with Jaya Bachchan during all the emotional scenes, or then discovered that classic Karan Johar motto – ‘It’s all about loving your parents’. Amitabh Bachchan has set the memory ball rolling by sharing an image of himself and Jaya from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham that released December 14, 2001. We jog your memory with more deets from behind the scenes, such as that…

Hrithik Roshan was so affected watching Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh enact the reconciliation scene, that he could not complete his own shot! Bachchan had to talk to him and calm him down the next day, before he could face the cameras confidently again.

Director Karan Johar found his inspiration for the character of Yashvardhan 'Yash' Raichand right at home – the patriarch is modelled on his own father, Yash Johar, who was also the producer of the film. Even the birth date of Yash Raichand mentioned in the film is the same as Yash Johar’s.

Abhishek Bachchan had reportedly shot a cameo role for the film, but later asked Karan to remove his scene from the final copy of the movie.

Karan Johar had got sued in a UK court for using the song 'It's Raining Men' without getting prior permission from the rightful owners. He had to pay a fine for it.

When Aamir Khan saw the film at a special screening along with the whole cast, he hated it so much that he actually escaped post-screening without meeting up with any of the cast!

Waheeda Rehman had been initially cast as Amitabh Bachchan's mother, and had even filmed some scenes. During the shooting of the film, however, her husband passed away, leading to her dropping out.

Karan added touches of his own previous film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to this one. For one, the two pivotal lovers in both films are named Rahul and Anjali, and were again played by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol respectively.

Shah Rukh's son, Aryan Khan played the role of his father's childhood self in the opening credits of K3G.
