Salman "offended" by Bhansali, SRK part of it?

Salman is no stranger to controversies. On the 15th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, the actor opened up about the controversies revolving around Padmavati. Taking a jibe at the protestors of the film, he said, “I don’t know about everyone but he (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) has definitely offended me.” He further added, “I gave him two hits, then he took Shah Rukh Khan in Devdas.”

As SLB is currently tied up in the furor of his upcoming film, Khan tried to lighten the already tensed situation. The Tiger Zinda Hai actor who has previously worked with Bhansali in in films like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Saawariya expressed his views and supported his fellow director saying that he is a responsible director and would never make a film that offends anyone.

He said, “Nobody but only CBFC and Court’s will decide on Padmavati. Yes, it is not right to hurt anyone’s sentiments but at the same time, it is not fair to comment on the film without seeing it. Everyone must respect the verdict of the censor board.”

"I don’t know about profit but there is definitely a loss. Whenever there is a controversy around a film, there is a lot of loss. People panic, and refrain from going to theatres. This scares the theatre owners as well.” he commented regarding the negativity that spreads due to such protests.

He urged the protestors not jump to conclusions, “Yes, it is not right to hurt anyone’s sentiments but at the same time, it is not fair to comment on the film without seeing it. Everyone must respect the verdict of the censor board.”

When asked about the Hindu-Muslim debate that resurfaces from time to time, Salman said, “There is no religion in our industry. My dad is a Muslim, my mother is a Hindu and I call myself ‘insaan’."

The director and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi met with a parliamentary panel on IT to discuss the on-going controversy surrounding the film. The Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor-Ranveer Singh starrer’s release date has been deferred from December 1 till further notice by the makers.

Here is to hoping a smooth and successful release of Padmavati just like our Bhaijaan
