Bhansali keeps Ranveer out of second 3D trailer of Padmavati!

You cannot keep Sanjay Leela Bhansali down for long. The Padmavati director is reportedly taking advantage of the lull in activity against his period drama to work on the film’s second trailer. And this, sources from the sets say, will have less of Ranveer Singh’s brutal and aggressive character Allaudin Khilji. The trailer, with dialogues this time, will be on the romance between Deepika Padukone’s Rani Padmavati and her royal consort Maharawal Ratan Singh played by Shahid Kapoor.

People are still gasping in awe over Padmavati’s first trailer which came out on October 9 and whetted viewers’ interests with its sheer grandeur and exciting coverage of Rajput history. It was felt by all, including Shahid Kapoor, that Ranveer’s character ran away with the first trailer. So Bhansali has consciously kept Khilji out of the second trailer. It is guaranteed to be mind-blowing and will focus entirely on Deepika and Shahid and have some powerful exchange of romantic dialogue between the onscreen couple.

Bhansali’s game plan appears to be to derail the controversy surrounding Padmavati and bring back people’s interest in the film. Sources say he is hoping the second trailer does the trick. He sat over it earlier fearing a backlash from the aggressively protesting Shri Rajput Karni Sena. But the director is now sparing no effort in this endeavor and is said to be cutting the trailer in 3D format.

Simultaneously, Bhansali is working on a release date for Padmavati with producer Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. This will be announced in December after the Gujarat assembly election results are out. Meanwhile, efforts are reportedly also being made to send the message out that there is no romance between Rani Padmavati and Allaudin Khilji in the film even though history suggests the conquering Sultan of Delhi was obsessed with her beauty. The second trailer is an attempt in that direction.
