“It kept drooping” - Shahid Kapoor’s moustache trouble is funny!

A dapper looking Shahid has kicked off promotions for Padmavati. At a special interaction, the actor not only spoke glowingly about the film, but also shook a leg sportingly to some simply choreographed moves. Clad in jeans slashed at the knees teamed with a tee and a sleeveless jacket, he spoke about how Padmavati is a very ambitious film, a very special film and how it is very difficult for him to wait out these two weeks until it releases. “It has a whole year of our work invested in it. It will be very special for the audiences, and for India, because of the scale, the honesty and the sincerity with which Mewar, Chittor, and Indian culture has been represented…”

“This is one of the biggest tragedies in Indian history,” he continued, “And the beauty with which Sanjay sir has portrayed it, is something you will understand when you see it. Deepika, Ranveer and I have given our blood to this film and we have all worked really, really hard on this film. So we can’t wait to see what people think. Now it will be available on 3D as well; it is going to be a cinematic experience which everybody in the country should see. I feel proud our country is making films on such a scale, films that depict our culture and values – it is not like we are trying to go abroad and showing a culture which is not ours, in an attempt to look bigger. It’s a very Indian film, it’s a very Hindustani film, and it’s a film which talks about our history.”

The actor also spoke about his moustache problems, which won him laughs galore. “It would take me close to two hours to get ready, as you can see the look is very different. First of all, it took me four months to grow my moustache and beard. At first I thought it would take a month for my moustache to turn but then I learnt it needs at least three months for the moustache to grow long enough to turn upwards. It just keeps drooping downwards! It wasn’t easy at all. I realized that it needed a lot of care and grooming and products. We should have more men’s grooming lines!” he chuckled.
