If go-go-go-Golmaal Again had you rolling in the aisles this Diwali, you’ll have more laughs coming up same time, next year. Apparently, the fourth instalment of the Housefull series will arrive Diwali 2019, to hopefully sweep your breath and the box office away. Word goes that producer Sajid Nadiadwala, on a huge high, post the smashing success of Judwaa 2, is planning really big this time around for Housefull, which is one of Bollywood’s biggest franchises.
He is already going about adding more power to the madcap combination of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Ritesh Deshmukh, Boman Irani, and Chunky Pandey by bringing in the punch of Sanjay Dutt. The ‘reincarnation comedy’, as it is being dubbed, will bring in this unique angle which has never been tried before in a Bollywood comedy film. This is being pegged a major highlight of Housefull 4, and director Sajid Khan must be putting in some serious work to ensure this fourth in the series is funnier than ever. Yes, Sajid and Sajid are friends again – there had been trouble between the two, which meant that after directing parts I and II of the series, Khan sat out part III but now returns for IV.
The film has been pitched on a very large scale, and is already touted to be one of the most expensive films ever to come out of Bollywood. Paying off the acting fees of this power-packed star cast would be a considerable fortune in itself!
For those curious about whether the Dutt will playing a bumbling goofball more on the lines of his character in the Munnabhai series, buzz goes that his character will be shown as strong and intense, and his role will be a pivotal one. Nice!
Even as Abhishek Bachchan, who had chosen to do part III, gives this one a miss, there’s one other star who will not shine in this instalment – Jacqueline Fernandez. The actress had been dating Sajid Khan during the filming of the second instalment. By 2013 they had broken up on a far-from-amicable note. And apparently, it was Khan who informed Nadiadwala that she should be kept out of this film. Nadiadwala, who otherwise has quite the soft spot for Jacqueline who has also featured in his Judwaa 2, agreed to his request. Nothing funny at all about the way these guys take care of each other!
