Nervous Maanayata calls Ranbir…but we’re sure Sanju Baba has it all covered!

Nothing like a biopic to set the cat among the pigeons. Now word filters in that it’s none other than Maanayata Dutt who is experiencing qualms about how she will be projected in the film being made on her husband’s life. The lady is said to be rather worried about her character sketch, especially since she apparently didn’t even know that director Raju Hirani was including her in the film. We find that a little hard to believe given that no biopic on Sanjay Dutt would be complete without featuring his wife; surely wives can’t be that unimportant!

But apparently, with details not coming in from either Sanju or Hirani, poor Maanayata has been left with no option but to knock on leading man, Ranbir Kapoor’s door. We don’t mean that literally of course – just that she has been dialling him desperately to get an inkling about her character. Knowing RK’s capacity to keep his lips sealed, we don’t think she’s having much luck there, but apparently it isn’t stopping her from trying!

We suggest Mrs. Dutt instead go over what Dia Mirza, who will be seen essaying her character in the film, had said earlier… “I believe Maanayata is someone who has a strong sense of self. Ranbir has transformed himself into Sanjay totally but I don’t think others need to do the same. I have interacted with her over the years and I think she is the anchor in Sanjay’s life. But I have perceived Maanayata through the wonderful writing (by Abhijat and Raju) that’s been written about her.”

With all that talk of ‘wonderful writing’, Maanayata can probably rest assured that she will have nothing to squirm about once the film hits the screens. Raju Hirani can probably be trusted not to risk embarrassing Maanayata Dutt who had been born Dilnashin Shaikh, raised in Dubai, was known as Sara Khan in the film industry till she was rechristened Maanayata after her launch in Prakash Jha's Gangajal, and had even acted in a film titled Lovers Like Us, prior to her first marriage and before she became Mrs. Dutt. Sanjay had bought over the rights of that film, which no more eyes will probably ever see, and we are sure he will ensure his wife is portrayed just right in his biopic as well. Dutt’s just the way he is!
