Ekta Proposes, Sunny Disposes

Ekta Kapoor might have given Sunny Leone the break that made her a household name, with ‘Baby Doll’ in Ragini MMS 2. After debuting with Pooja Bhatt’s Jism, it was this film that gave Sunny both commercial success and nation-wide attention. Yes, she will always be grateful to Ekta for the trust she had reposed in her, standing by her when most filmmakers were simply too wary of her adult film reputation. But does that translate to Sunny jumping to attention, if and when Ekta snaps her powerful fingers? No siree!

Sunny is a huge star in her own right and while she does aim to meticulously maintain all her professional relationships, she is in no mood to bend backwards to please. Ekta Kapoor experienced precisely this side of her protegee’s recently, when she informed Sunny to attend the promotional events for her web series, Ragini MMS Returns in the coming week. Sunny’s presence would naturally add that additional splash of glamour and grab major eyeballs, giving the series a serious boost in attention.

However, a not-so-minor hiccup lay ahead for Ekta. The Balaji honcho received quite a jolt when informed that Sunny had to attend to her own work commitments and would not be available! Sunny was in fact to leave on a two-month trip to Los Angeles to attend to the running of her own production house there. Her prior work engagements made it impossible for her to cancel her trip and she would have to give the webseries promo event a miss. Ekta might have fumed but Sunny would simply not be budged!

This has supposedly driven a wedge between the two tough ladies. While Ekta believes Sunny owes her bigtime for her Ragini MMS 2 break, and should show her loyalty and gratitude, Sunny believes she brings her own value to the table and should be allowed to function independently. Previously too, the two had crossed swords when Sunny had refused a cameo in Ekta’s show. We predict that the storm will blow over though and all will be well again. Ekta is first and foremost a canny businesswoman, after all!
