The real reason why Taapsee lost out to Kriti Sanon…

Despite the accolades coming her way post Pink, life in the movie business has not been exactly rosy for leading lady Taapsee Pannu. Take the latest film she was supposed to star in opposite John Abraham. A thriller adapted from the Spanish film, The Invisible Guest, she had all but signed on the dotted line for this Lakshya-directorial.

However, there’s many a slip between the cup and the lip and soon Taapsee found herself completely out of the reckoning.

Apparently, it was not a problem over dates or price that nixed matters but a disagreement between the makers over the issue of the female lead. The film is being produced by John Abraham Entertainment along with KriArj Entertainment and Sunir Kheterpal. Sunir, who was in possession of the rights to the Spanish thriller, is said to have assured Taapsee that the role was hers. That, however, was before KriArj came onto the scene. When they did, things changed. They were not happy with Sunir’s choice of leading lady and soon had additional support from the leading man John as well on this matter. The combined weight of John and KriArj tilted the scales in their favour and Taapsee was let go off to make way for Kriti Sanon.

KriArj’s Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor are evidently huge fans of Ms. Sanon – they have also signed her on for one more film which they will produce.

Apparently, it was Bareilly Ki Barfi that clinched the deal where Kriti is concerned. The team was said to be mighty impressed by her talent. They found her to be younger, more glamorous and prettier than Taapsee. It was also felt that she would do better justice to the role of the sexy scheming mistress opposite John, and that sealed Taapsee’s fate. Such is life in B-town!
