NCB arrests Sushant Singh Rajput's flatmate Siddharth Pithani from Hyderabad in drugs case, to remain in custody till June 1

Sushant Singh Rajput's friend and flatmate Siddharth Pithani has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the ongoing alleged Bollywood drugs case that came to the forefront after the actor died by suicide on June 14, 2020. Siddharth was arrested in Hyderabad on May 26, 2021. 

Siddharth, who was questioned by the investigating agency last year, was reportedly absconding and fleeing from the NCB. On May 25, a team from Mumbai was sent to Hyderabad in search of Siddharth who got engaged last week. His statement was taken by the NCB and was duly arrested under section 8(c) r/w 20(b)(II)(a),27,28 & 29 r/w 27-A & 35 of NDPS Act, 1985 and produced before the Hon’ble court in Hyderabad, NCB's Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede confirmed in a statement.

Mr Wankhede in the statement further added, "The Hon’ble court granted his transit warrant and the said accused has been brought to Mumbai.  He was produced before Hon’ble CMM court in Mumbai on 28.05.2021. The Hon'ble Court was pleased to grant NCB Custody till 1/06/2021. Further investigation is underway."

Siddharth was among the first few ones to be present at Sushant's residence when he was found hanging in his room. He was questioned multiple times in the case. Last year, when the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Siddharth along with Sushant's cook Neeraj Singh and domestic help Deepesh Sawant reportedly visited the actor's residence in Bandra to reconstruct the sequence of events that unfolded before his untimely demise that took the entire nation and entertainment industry.
