The person to call the veteran actor claimed to be a member belonging to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case convict Abu Salem. An offense was registered and transferred to the Mumbai Police's Anti-Extortion Cell. The Dadar Police, last night arrested one accused.

In an exclusive statement to PeepingMoon, Mahesh revealed that he received a message demanding Rs.35 crore. He said, soon after the message arrived, he informed the police and now, they have arrested the person. Saying that he is safe and protected, Mahesh added that the message came via normal SMS and not Whatsapp. Assuming that he was jobless due to COVID-19, Mahesh said poverty and financial crisis must have prompted him to message him.
