Fashion designer Amy Billimoria, whose elite clientele includes Bollywood diva Hema Malini and newbies like Nargis Fakhri and Zareen Khan, discovered to her horror last evening that her boutique in suburban Mumbai was the scene of a filmi heist. An unidentified but stylish woman coming in as a first-time customer walked away with costly jewelry on her way out.
The theft was discovered late in the day when both, the woman and the jewelry were gone.
CCTV footage at Amy’s House of Design fashion store in Mumbai’s tony Juhu suburbs shows the shoplifter in action. Seen wearing a blue top and jeans, the fake shopper looks around in a desultory manner, as if undecided about the clothes on display. When the store attendant waiting on her turns for a moment, the woman quickly but casually lifts some item of jewelry off a rack and sneaks it into the black tote she is carrying. Her action is so smooth and natural, it attracts no attention.
Alarms bells began ringing at the close of day when stock taking occurred and the House of Design management discovered that some jewelry was missing. A quick look at the CCTV footage revealed how effortlessly they had been scammed. Amy Billimoria furiously reported the crime to the Santacruz Police Station.

But even before the police registered her complaint and swung into action, Amy was seeking recourse on social media.
She posted a video of the CCTV footage showing the woman in blue lifting the jewelry from her store on her Facebook page and appealed to clients and friends to try and identify her and help bring her to book. The shocked response to her post was instantaneous.
The shoplifter was reportedly identified by a friend as a woman of Saudi descent whose own Facebook page has her claiming parental connection to King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia who was assassinated by his nephew in 1975. Until the police verify this claim, the woman’s name is being kept undisclosed. A hunt has already been launched for her.
