Lockdown Depression: 'Aadat Se Majboor' actor Manmeet Grewal commits suicide

The ongoing nationwide lockdown from the last two months is showcasing its ugly side in the form of depression and financial crisis. The entertainment industry, which has been shut down for the longest period since it's inception, is now facing a new challenge. With no work and earning aspect, actors are restoring to desperate measures. In a shocking incident, TV actor Manmeet Grewal who was part of Sony SAB's Aadat Se Majboor committed suicide. The actor hanged himself on May 15 at midnight at his house. He lived with his wife in rented accommodation in  Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar.

As per reports, Manmeet was depressed from the ongoing lockdown as his income came to a standstill due to no work.

Reportedly, Manmeet was debt-ridden and was unable to pay the rent for his flat, leading him into severe depression. Manmeet's friend and producer Manjit Singh Rajput confirmed to a news channel that the actor was facing acute financial issues due to lack of work, and was unable to repay his loans. 

 

In a shocking statement further, Manjit revealed, “Manmeet's wife requested the people to cut the duppata in her husband’s neck with scissors while holding his hanging body. The people didn’t help because of fear of COVID-19 infection. After some time, a doctor and a police officer came to the spot; however, they also didn’t help. About an hour later, the guard cut the scarf from her husband’s neck. He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead."
