Erica Fernandes and Shaheer Sheikh became the talk of the town with their effortless chemistry in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. Soon after the show climbed the TRP charts and when the characters Dr.Sonakshi Bose and Dev Dixit got married in the reel, audience assumed them to be dating each other, all thanks to their natural portrayal of the characters. For the unversed, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi was Erica's first show as a lead actress. In an interview to a leading daily, Shaheer said Erica has herself denied the relationship leaving no room for speculations and expects people to respect it.
"Erica has herself denied our relationship, and expected people to respect us. But then, that's the hazard of our profession,” Shaheer told the daily.

Shaheer also opened up about dating rumours and said, "I felt it once in my life, which was a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. That phase was the best phase of my life; my world revolved around her. I am glad I was able to live it and feel it.”
The Mahabharata actor also revealed that his parents want to get him settled in life and then head back to their hometown. He narrated, "I remember this one time when I was out shopping with my sister, and a girl met me at the mall, which was secretly arranged by my mom. My parents, who are currently in Mumbai, have been breathing down my neck for me to settle down. They have vowed that they won’t go back home until I get married."

On the professional front, Shaheer was last seen as Salim in Dastaan-E-Mohabbat Salim Anarkali and will feature in the spin-off of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai titled Yeh Rishtey Hai Pyaar Ke with Rhea Sharma, who was last seen as Kanak in Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji. While Erica is winning hearts as Prerna Sharma in Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
