Koffee With Karan 6: Nothing bitter between us, says Sidharth Malhotra on break-up with Alia Bhatt

Sidharth Malhotra, during his appearance on the sixth season of Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan, opened up about his break-up with Alia Bhatt. While rumours of Sidharth’s and Alia’s apparent bitter relationship circulated across the press, he cleared the air that the scenario isn’t as such and that he didn’t meet her after their separation.

“I don't think it is bitter. I think we haven't really met after that, to be honest. It's civil. It has been a while. It happens. It's like any other relationship,” Sidharth said on KWK 6. He further stated that he has known Alia as a person much before they began dating. “I knew her from even before we were dating. So it's not like we met as girlfriend-boyfriend. I think it will remain... It's just a matter of us coming back, whether it is work or whether it is just socializing,” Sidharth added.

Sidharth and Alia made their debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year in 2012 and began dating soon after as per reports. Both co-starred in Shakun Batra’s Kapoor and Sons in 2016 but separated a year later. While speaking of filming Student of the Year with Alia, Sidharth said, “I have given my first ever shot with her. We were doing the Radha song. There is so much history.”

Sidharth, moreover, also said that the break-up wasn’t difficult and the decision was taken consciously by them. “There is a reason why two people decide not to be together. There were lots of ups and downs. I tend to look at it as when you take yourself away from a particular situation or an experience, you think of the good. So, all good memories and happy memories,” he said.

Last seen in Aiyaary, Sidharth Malhotra will appear next in Jabariya Jodi and Marjaavaan. Alia Bhatt is currently gearing up for the release of Gully Boy, co-starring Ranveer Singh, and scheduled for release on February 14.
