Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain to get a spin-off, titled Happu, co-starring Himani Shivpuri

Popular television show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, starring Aasif Sheikh, Rohitash Gaud, Shubhangi Atre Poorey and Saumya Tandon in the principal roles, is getting a spin-off, titled Happu, a leading daily reports. In Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, Yogesh Tripathi plays the role of Happu Singh as the spin-off will focus on his relationship with his mother, wife and nine children.

Happu will feature new characters and the role of his mother, Katori, will be played by Himani Shivpuri, a familiar face from the films Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Andaz and Pardes. Shivpuri’s role is inspired by Surekha Sikri’s character in Ayushmann Khurrana’s 2018 release Badhaai Ho.

“My character is also the family matriarch who stands up for her bahu against the world despite their tu tu-main main,” Shivpuri told the daily. Elaborating on her role in Happu, Shivpuri added, “Katori dresses like a married woman because her husband is too much in love with her to leave the house.”

Happu will be written and directed by Manoj Santoshi and Shashank Bali.
