Shahid Kapoor and his brother Ishaan Khatter appeared on the sixth season of filmmaker Karan Johar's celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan 6. While conversing with Karan, Shahid confessed that he "literally begged" his mother Neelima Azeem for a sibling following which Ishaan was born. Shahid is Neelima's first child from her former husband Pankaj Kapur. After separating from Kapur in 1984, Neelima married actor Rajesh Khattar in 1990 - Ishaan is their first child together.
On Koffee With Karan, Shahid said that he felt lonely as the only child and continuously pestered his mother for a sibling. "I was begging mom to have Ishaan because I was the only one. When mom got married for the second time, she was pretty clear that she doesn't want a baby because she felt like, you know, it was pretty late she got married in her early 30s, I think. And then I kept pestering her that you know, it's not fair and I deserve a sibling. And she literally had Ishaan for me," Shahid said on KWK 6.

Recalling memories of Ishaan's childhood, Shahid said, "I begged her for two-three years. I was just after her. And finally, she just gave in and said, 'Alright, I am gonna have one.' And out popped this guy. As a baby, Ishaan was that bouncy guy with a big grin on his face, just like he is now."

Shahid Kapoor, last seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, is currently filming Kabir Singh. Ishaan made his debut in Bollywood with Beyond The Clouds in 2018 and appeared next in Dhadak opposite Janhvi Kapoor.
