Koffee With Karan: Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul suspended over sexist remarks, will miss Aus-Ind first ODI

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul will have to pay a heavy price for their appearance and their sexist remarks at Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan. The two cricketers will not be playing for India is Saturday’s ODI series-opener against Australia. Diana Edulji, Committee of Administrators (CoA) member recommended a suspension of the duo pending an inquiry on their controversial and derogatory remarks on women during the TV show. Previously, CoA chief Vinod Rai had recommended a 2-ODI ban for the cricketers and had termed the remarks as “crass and sexist”. He said that no apology can cover it. However, Edulji referred the matter to BCCI’s legal team.

Reportedly, Rahul was not considered for selection for the ODI while Pandya will not feature at least in the game on Saturday. However, a final decision on the matter is still awaited. PTI reported a source, “The team management has told Pandya that he is not playing tomorrow as they are yet to get a final directive. Rahul, in any case, wasn't in contention for a first XI berth. The team management is waiting for an official communication on whether there is a provisional suspension and if they will be sent back.”
