Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer war saga Kesari, directed by Anurag Singh, hit the silver screens on March 21 on the occasion of Holi. Based on the true story of the Battle of Saragarhi fought between 21 courageous Sikhs and 10,000 Afghan invaders, the film has been well received by the audience and minted Rs 21.06 crores at the box-office on the first day itself. On the second day, Kesari went on to collect Rs 16.75 crore, which was a 20% approx drop from the first day.
However, on Saturday, Akshay's film showed an upward growth and went up around 12% to take the third day collections to Rs 18.75 crore. Crossing the first milestone of Rs 50 crore, the total three collections of the film now stand at Rs 56.56 crore. Here are the box-office numbers:
As per a report in a trade portal, Kesari enjoyed a 25-30% growth in bigger cities on Saturday but many mass centres, which had the Holi benefit on Friday, were a little lower on the third day. Meanwhile, the film is expected to rake in moolah on Sunday as well, eyeing at Rs 25 crore business, thereby taking the total extended weekend collection to around Rs 80 crore.
Well, it would not be wrong to say that Kesari is already a hit and it is likely to break more box office records in coming days.
