Box Office: Ranveer Singh's Simmba is receiving a whole lotta love already with terrific occupancy on opening day

Ranveer Singh's much-awaited film Simmba released today and is garnering a whole lot of love at the box office already. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Simmba stars Ranveer as cop Sangram Bhalerao and opened to fantastic reviews on December 28. Reports suggest that fans flocked to the theatres to catch the first show of the film on Friday morning as Simmba witnessed around 35-40% box office occupancy on its opening day.

In mass centres as well, Simmba's box office occupancy is stupendous with a record of around 55-60% while the film is reportedly performing exceptionally well in Mumbai theatres. Considering the fact that Simmba has been garnering positive reviews from critics as well as fans, evening and night show collections for the film are expected to be fabulous. Advance bookings for Simmba were equally good as it collected Rs 8 crore nett, if box office reports are anything to go by.

Simmba highlights several issues including the empowerment of women and fighting crime against women. It narrates Sangram Bhalerao’s journey as his character undergoes a valiant change in the film – from a corrupt cop, Bhalerao turns into a determined police officer, who sets out on a quest for justice to avenge a woman’s rape and subsequent death.

Simmba is the remake of Telugu film Temper and casts Sara Ali Khan opposite Ranveer. It is Sara’s second film after Kedarnath, which marked her debut in Bollywood. Simmba has been produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Rohit Shetty Picturez.
