Box Office: Hollywood leads again; Venom fares better than Loveyatri and AndhaDhun

This Friday saw three new releases at the box office- Venom, AndhaDhun, and Loveyatri. However, once again the Hollywood release did better business at the box office than the Hindi releases and proved to be a heavyweight.

Tom Hardy starrer Venom has gone ahead of Ayushmann Khurrana’s AndhaDhun and Aayush Sharma’s Loveyatri in collections on its opening day at the box office.

AndhaDhun that also starred Radhika Apte, Tabu and Anil Dhawan made Rs 2.50 crore at the box office on the first day. The murder mystery directed by Sriram Raghavan has got good reviews but it remains to be seen whether it is able to change it into box office collections.

Salman Khan backed Loveyatri which is the big debut of his brother-in-law Aayush’s and Warina Hussain’s also fared similarly to AdhaDhun. It scored Rs 2 crore approx in collections. Although Loveyatri’s songs have become a super hit the film has not been able to cash in on the hype. Hopefully, it should recover steam provided that Navratri is soon approaching.

Venom, on the other hand, made almost double of AndhaDhun and LoveYatri combined. It made Rs 4.04 crore which is a great opening considering that it is a new entity for Indian fans and the film has got mixed to negative reviews from critics all around the world. However, with its good start, it once again proved that superhero films are loved by Indian audiences.

Varun Dhawan’s and Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga-Made in India has registered a decline in collections of Day 8. It registered a total collection of Rs 64.25 crore but should witness growth on the weekends.
