Box Office: Sui Dhaaga starts on a good note, Pataakha gets a lukewarm response

Yesterday two big films released at the box office, one was Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga-Made in India while the other was Vishal Bharadwaj’s Pataakha starring Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan, Sunil Grover and Vijay Raaz.

Sui Dhaaga-Made in India directed by Sharat Katariya had a good start at the box office as it recorded RS 8.30 crore as first day collections. Despite the big Asia Cup final match between India vs Bangladesh the film saw a decent opening. It is expected to recover lost ground on Day 2 and on the weekend, given the advance booking numbers it will surely see a huge jump over the weekend. However, it is expected to garner much moolah on Gandhi Jayanti as it is a National holiday.

Pataakha on the other hand, has received rave reviews for its acting and direction. The film also stars Namit Das and Abhishek Duhan and is based on a short story Do Behnein by Charan Singh Pathik. However, the film had a lukewarm start on Friday and fetched only Rs 90 lakhs but is expected to grow over the weekend.

Since Pataakha doesn't boast of any big names, it might be difficult for it to garner a good amount of money at the box office, but we are keeping our fingers crossed and hope that both the films do well and keep the cash registers ringing at the theatres.
