Box Office: Audience accepts Veere Di Wedding, Raazi and Parmanu go strong

John Abraham's Parmanu-The Story of Pokhran, Alia Bhatt's Raazi, and Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan's Veere Di Wedding are all doing an impressive business at the Box Office. The audience have lapped up all the three films.

Parmanu, the film based on the historic nuclear tests done by the Atal Behari Vajpayee-led NDA government, is being loved by the audience. On Thursday, it had collected Rs 3.24 crore and by the end of week 1 of its release, it has garnered Rs 35.41 crore. Despite releasing during IPL finals, the film has kept its steady hold at the Box Office. In a surge rarely seen at the Box Office, it grew nearly 60% on Day 2 to clock Rs 7.64 crore and turned profitable within mere three days of its release.

Alia Bhatt’s Raazi is continuing its golden run at the Box Office. The movie just doesn't seem to bow down to recent theatrical releases. Apart from Alia, the spy thriller also stars Vicky Kaushal, Soni Razdan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Rajit Kapoor. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie has fetched a whopping Rs 109.84 crore till date nationwide. This is the first female directed film to have crossed a Rs 100 crore mark at the Box Office and is also the first female-centric film to do so. Prior to Raazi, Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns crossed the Rs 100 crore but, it was a popular franchise and audience's anticipation was already paramount, which was not the case with Raazi.

Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer Veere Di Wedding started with a bang today. It had a good first day business at the Box Office. The film tries to break stereotypes and dares to be different. Tagged with the punchline ‘Not a chick flick’, the film has been appreciated by the audience, let’s hope that it can keep its growth and momentum.
