Lilly Singh mentions Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in brown representation monologue during her late-night show debut

It's not every day that a woman of colour lands a chance to be a late-night host on primetime American television. So, YouTube sensation Lilly Singh, whose show A Little Late with Lilly Singh premiered on September 16, wants to make sure it is inclusive and spreads positivity. The social media personality and television host kickstarted her episode with a three-minute rap. Her guests for the night were The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling and her The Office co-star Rainn Wilson. And he episode had a mention of top Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. 

Lilly also talked about how minority representation is all Hollywood is about right now. She mentioned how Daniel Kaluuya should replace Leonardo DiCaprio on Titanic and how the entire cast of Lena Dunham’s Girls should be replaced by Bollywood stars like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. “There’s no sex or nudity. Just really suggestive handholding. And all the relationships are arranged by their parents", Lilly said.

Talking about her show, Lilly earlier said, “Inevitably, it’s a lot of pressure. It’s also a huge honour, and I’m focusing on the latter part. I’m focusing on how exciting this business is and how much it could mean, rather than focusing on, ‘Oh my God. What will people think, and what if this messes up?’ So I’m just having fun while I do it and I think that’s going to get the best result, ultimately.”
