Exclusive: Akshay Kumar to fly LON-MUM-LON for ‘Mission Mangal’ trailer launch

That he’s launching the trailer of his Independence Day release Mission Mangal this Thursday (July 18), is known. But what nobody knows is that Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who plays a scientist in this space drama, is flying down especially for this event from London that day. And when it’s over, Akshay will fly back to London where he has been enjoying a month-long break with his family.

This is the level of excitement that Akshay is feeling for Mission Mangal which the actor said is the first commercial entertainment space film to be made in India. Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal has an impressive star cast that includes Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and Nithya Menen. From London, in between watching World Cup cricket and following tennis at Wimbledon, Akshay released a teaser of Mission Mangal on July 9 that got the film and him unanimous praise.

Now it is believed that the trailer launch will be on scale never seen before for a Bollywood event and will, in all probability, have the venue resembling space and India’s mission to reach Mars. Mission Mangal is based on the Mangalayaan space mission which took place on November 5, 2013, by the Indian Space Research Organization to send a spacecraft to the Mars orbit. Akshay revealed that he did the film, especially for his six-year-old daughter Nitara and other children her age to familiarize them with the incredible true story of India’s mission to Mars.
