Watch: Hrithik Roshan takes a dig at his ‘happy, very uppity’ role in ‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’, says he failed at it miserably

Hrithik Roshan is flying high after two back-to-back box office hits in 2019 namely-Super 30 and War. The actor hit the bull’s eye playing two very diverse roles and proved his versatility as well as his box office prowess with the two films. However, in a new video that has been doing the rounds on social media, Hrithik cracks a joke about one of the most difficult roles in his career.

During an interview, Hrithik was asked if there ever was a time when he had difficulty playing a character and if he had a method that he followed to play the role. To this, the actor sheepishly agreed that there was such a role. He said, “Yeah, and I failed terribly. There was a film that I did called Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon. A very happy, very uppity...It doesn’t come very naturally to me...even if you try really hard, which I did.”

Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon was directed by Sooraj Barjatya and featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Pankaj Kapur and Himani Shivpuri. The film was panned for its over-acting, weak storyline and over-the-top treatment. Before its release, it was touted as a casting coup of sorts as it had Abhishek, Kareena and Hrithik in it who were the next-best-thing at the start of the decade. However, the film was an utter failure at the box office and has become fodder for memes with Hrithik's and Kareena's exaggerated acting.
