After months of anticipation, Nitesh Tiwari's ‘Ramayan’ trailer is finally out. Released during Brahma Muhurat, the first look had everything going in its favour, an ensemble cast, a massive budget and the responsibility of bringing India's most beloved epic to the big screen. But surprisingly, the trailer leaves you with more questions than goosebumps.

The biggest issue isn't the scale; it's the lack of emotional connection. For a film like ‘Ramayan’, audiences don't just expect stunning visuals. They expect to feel something. Whether it's the aura of Bhagwan Ram, the welcoming warmth of Ayodhya or the spiritual pull that has made this story timeless, that emotional spark is what seems missing from the trailer.

Visually, the trailer feels more staged than cinematic. Instead of flowing naturally, many sequences appear carefully mounted, making the world look rigid rather than lived in. For a film mounted on such a massive scale, the first impression feels surprisingly chaotic instead of grand.

Ranbir Kapoor looks sincere as Bhagwan Ram, but in this glimpse, he appears slightly too mature for the role. Sai Pallavi's look as Sita is elegant, though her dialogue delivery and accent will remain a point of curiosity until the film releases. Interestingly, Kaikeyi and Dasharath leave a stronger impression than most of the lead characters.

Another surprising choice is the trailer opening with Yash's Ravan. While it's an intriguing decision, the trailer largely focuses on war and spectacle, offering very little of the emotional world that defines ‘Ramayan’. Even Hanuman, one of the epic's most iconic and beloved characters, is missing from the first look, despite the trailer touching upon the Lanka chapter.

A trailer doesn't decide a film's fate, and ‘Ramayan’ still has every chance to exceed expectations. But for a story that has lived in people's hearts for generations, this trailer feels more like a visual showcase than an emotionally moving introduction. Hopefully, the film succeeds where the trailer couldn't.
