Akshay Kumar was last seen as a scientist who spearheaded an all-women team on India’s Mars Orbiter Mission in Mission Mangal. Now he is all set to star alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in their upcoming comedy, Raj Mehta directorial, Good Newwz. The film marks the reunion for the duo, almost a decade after Kambakkht Ishq. Apart from them, it also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.
According to a report in a leading daily, Akshay plays Kareena's suave, South Delhi-based car dealer husband. “This character is stylish and rich, in a space Akshay has not explored in the recent past. There is plenty of humour and drama in Kareena and his track," the daily quoted a source as saying. Interestingly, Diljit and Kiara will be seen playing another couple also wanting a baby in this comedy about parenthood. In fact, they are shown as coming from a more traditional Punjabi backdrop, with the former a die-hard fan of a popular Punjabi rapper. “It is a situational comedy revolving around these two couples from different cultural backgrounds and the procedure,” added the source.

Meanwhile, Akshay is currently in Hyderabad, where he is shooting for Rohit Shetty’s upcoming cop drama, Sooryavanshi. Joining him would be Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, playing Singham and Simmba, during the 20-day schedule at Ramoji Rao Film City.
