Virat Kohli talks about opting for a private wedding with Anushka Sharma and why 'there was no other way around it'

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, have not only set the benchmark for future couples high but also gave major wedding goals post their dreamy and breathtakingly beautiful ceremony held in Italy. The couple tied the knot at Lake Como and was a strictly confidential affair and this fact still continues to bother ardent fans of the Indian cricket team captain and the actress. Although, despite being quizzed quite a lot of time, they preferred to maintain silence but now, Virat has finally spilled the beans on the reason for keeping the ceremony guarded against the public and media attention. Virat, during an interview with an American sports reporter, said the decision was taken by Anushka, who planned the wedding as he was in the middle of a cricket series.

"So the plan was all executed by Anushka because I was in the middle of the series. So, she (Anushka) figured out the location and everything and she mentioned it pretty categorically that we have to keep it confidential and there was no other way around it," Virat told.

The Indian cricket team captain further added that only 42 people were present for the wedding. He also said that after conducting receptions and parties for Anushka and his friends back in Mumbai, the Sharma and Kohli families were happy that the main ceremony took place with fewer people, else it would have been 'madness'. "The wedding was very private. We announced it to our friends and there was a frenzy. There was top security and people had to get in with their cards or you couldn't enter. So proper top-level stuff and then we came to Bombay to do another celebration for her industry friends, my cricketer friends. So across two celebrations after they ended, the next day our families said 'We are so glad you did it in Italy'. Imagine if the main thing had happened in India. It would have been madness," Virat said.

Virat and Anushka, popularly known by the name of Virushka amongst fans, tied the knot on December 11, 2017, by the scenic Lake Como. Soon, the couple hosted a star-studded wedding party with the who's who of Bollywood and cricket marking their presence.
