In the end of June, filmmaker Karan Johar announced that actors Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor will star in Dharma Productions' Dostana 2, a sequel to the 2008 film Dostana. Although it was revealed that the film will follow the story of one girl and two boys, the name of the second male lead was kept under the wraps. Now adding to the excitement, Karan finally made the big announcement on social media as he found Dostana 2's 'suitable boy' in newcomer Lakshya.
Sharing a series of his pictures on Instagram, KJo captioned the post as, Both happy and excited to introduce the new kid on the Dharma block! LAKSHYA will be making his debut with us in #DOSTANA2 and from thereon, we hope to start a solid cinematic journey together! Please welcome @itslakshya and shower him with all your love and blessings..."
If his Instagram is to go by, Lakshya is a rank newcomer, who appears to be from outside the film industry. In fact, his account features only one post with two of his pictures as he shares his excitement to join the Dharma family. The caption reads as, “Overwhelmed, grateful & down right EXCITED for this wonderful new beginning! Thank you for this welcome into the #Dharma family, can't wait to get started on #Dostana2! @Dharmamovies” Reportedly, Lakshya has been signed for four-films (including films and digital ventures) after a series of meticulous auditions and test shoots.
Well, now we are certainly excited to see him along with Janhvi and Kartik to carve their magic on the silver screen.
For the unversed, Dostana was directed by Tarun Mansukhani. It featured Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra. The story revolved around two men who pretend to be a gay couple in order to secure an apartment. Both fall in love with the same girl.
