‘My character in the film is revolutionary, it's not a stereotypical Hindi film heroine’, says Kangana Ranaut about her ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ role

The trailer of Kangana Ranaut’s and Rajkummar Rao’s film Judgementall Hai Kya dropped today and it has already piqued the audience’s interest manifold with its suspense, thrill and the lead actors’ superb acting. Today, at the trailer launch of the film Kangana spoke about playing a flawed character and breaking stereotypes by taking up such a diverse and ‘hatke’ role. At media interaction that followed after the trailer launch, Kangana spoke at length about various topics including the fact that many from the industry labeled her as a ‘mental’ character.

Kangana also spoke about the role she plays in the film. Apparently, she plays the role of a mainstream actress who is suffering from a mental illness. Talking about the role that will break prejudice and stereotypes the way her character Tanu did in her film Tanu Weds Manu, Kangana said, “If you think that this is a film around mental illness after which we get a solution at the end of it then this is not that film. What I felt was revolutionary in this character was the fact that our mainstream heroines are very bubbly and chirpy and everything revolves around her. She is the most popular in college; every guy wants to marry her, her boss falls in love with her. However, in this film, the heroine is struggling through mental illness and is not feeling sorry for herself. She makes fun of herself as well as her situation, a mainstream actress who is struggling through mental illness devoid of putting herself down.”

I have deep sympathy the film, its highly relatable.” She also said that she was not keen on doing the film but after reading the she realized, she was so wrong and is glad for doing it!
