A criminal defamation suit has been filed against actress Esha Gupta by a Delhi businessman after she accused him of sexual misconduct and gross demeanour. Acting on the complaint of the businessman, advocate Vikas Pahwa filed the defamation case against Esha under section 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code in Saket Court, New Delhi. The complainant sought cognizance of the complaint and to prosecute and punish the actress for her alleged claims under provisions of the law. The businessman is also seeking compensation in his facour.
The Court has taken the matter in to consideration and the hearing is set for August 28. The businessman’s plea read, “The mental agony caused to the complainant is continuing every day since close friends and colleagues are contacting him and his family on a continuous basis and expressing displeasure over the content posted by the accused. Many members of the public have been expressing doubts on the integrity and moral character of the complainant believing the false and defamatory statements to be true.”
On July 6, Esha had named and shamed the businessman in a series of tweets and had accused the hotelier of "raping her with his eyes". She had shared his photo on social media and written, “If a woman like me can feel violated and unsafe in the county, then idk what girls around feel. Even with two securities around I felt getting raped…”Check out her tweets below.
