Vicky Kaushal will be back to entertain us, however, this time around he will be seen on the digital platform in a rib-tickling romcom and not the intense roles that he is generally seen in. Vicky will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in his next film Govinda Naam Mera that also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani alongside him. The film will skip a theatrical release and will have a direct-to-OTT release on Disney+Hotstar. After a hilarious video of Vicky and producer Karan Johar released a couple of days ago, the character posters of the three leads have been unveiled today.
Vicky shared his character poster with the caption, “Govinda naam mera, naachna kaam mera. Aa raha hun jald, apni kahaani le kar! #GovindaNaamMera streaming from 16th Dec, only on Disney+ Hotstar!” The actor can be seen in a rustic avatar with an orange T-shirt and check shirt and blue denims. He can also be seen wearing a bandanna while he exudes a dance move and plays a background dancer in the film. The poster also contains the name of the character Govind Waghmare.
Bhumi and Kiara’s posters have also been shared. However, their names are not revealed instead their relationship to Vicky’s character is shown. Bhumi is seen sitting on a wing chair looking sensuous while the text reads, “Govinda ki hotty wife.” On the other hand, Kiara can be seen dressed in a fun printed co-ord set and is all smile on the poster while she is referred to as “Govinda ki naughty girlfriend.”
KJo who shared all the three posters gave out hint that the film will be a fun ride through the caption that reads, “Hero, his wife and his girlfriend - what could possibly go wrong, right? A lot it seems. Get ready for some murder, mystery, madness and masala.”
A couple of days ago, Karan and Vicky had announced the film’s release on OTT in a hilarious video. The clip begins with the two discussing Vicky’s successful filmography but KJo quickly adds that he is always seen in an intense role. Referring to the famous dialogue from Vicky's breakthrough film Masaan, Karan said, “Dukh tera khatam hi nahi hota,” and encouraged the actor to explore his fun side. KJo offers him Govinda Naam Mera which Vicky thinks is a biopic on the actor Govinda but is told that it is a story of a background dancer Govinda Waghmare. Govinda has a host of problems – rising debts, a wife who cheats on him and occasionally beats him up and a girlfriend. When Vicky asks about another option, KJo offers him SOTY 3 after which the actor chooses Govinda Naam Mera.
Govinda Naam Mera is directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan under Dharma Productions and is set to release on December 16 on Disney+ Hotstar.
