Panchayat trailer: Jitendra Kumar reunites with Neena Gupta in this hilariously quirky web series

Amazon Prime Video dropped the trailer and poster of their latest show Panchayat today. The web series reunites Jitendra Kumar and Neena Gupta after their recent hit film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The series also stars Raghubir Yadav, Biswapati Sarkar and others. The trailer is quirky, hilarious and full of funny one-liners that promise a must-watch show. 

Jitendra plays the lead role of Abhishek Tripathi, an urban boy stuck with the job of a secretary of a panchayat office in a village. It is a job that he does not want and tries his best to escape from. In order to escape from the hinterland that has new trouble every day, he resorts to start prepping for the MBA entrance exam which will be a ticket back to the city. Neena plays the village pradhan while Raghubir plays her husband.

Talking about Panchayat and the opportunity to work with Neena again, Jitendra said, “Panchayat is the unique and charming story of a young man struggling to adjust to his new life in a remote village. I could not have been more excited to work on Panchayat and particularly the opportunity to work with the brilliant Neena Guptaji once again.”

Neena Gupta also enjoyed playing village Pradhan Manju Devi in the series. She said, "Playing the role of Manju Devi, a quirky matriarchal homemaker and official village Pradhan, was a huge amount of fun, especially alongside such a talented cast and crew. Panchayat is a light-hearted, funny series with plenty of heart. I know Prime members are going to fall in love with its unique characters and authentic rural flavour." Panchayat is an eight-part series that will beging streaming on Amazon Prime Video from April 3.
