On a placid Saturday, as India quietly observed the 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Tollywood's 'It' couple and Internet favourites Samantha Prabhu Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya shook up the news cycle by choosing to announce their break-up, ending weeks of suspense and speculation over the status of their marriage.
Shortly after they announced their separation, various reports about the couple went viral - the latest one being that Naga moved to a hotel after their separation. It's now being revealed that Samantha continues to live in their Hyderabad home while Chaitanya moved into a hotel. A source told a Bollywood website, "Naga Chaitanya has been living alone in a posh hotel in Hyderabad since a month after he and Samantha decided mutually to divorce. Chay and Sam both waited for Love Story to release in theatres so that they can announce their separation."
On Saturday, a terse statement on Samantha's social media handles clarified that the couple has decided to move on. Her estranged husband, Naga, who's basking in the success of his latest film, Love Story, also confirmed the news on his handles. As did the Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya's father, who in his carefully worded tweet declared that Samantha "will always be dear to us".
Speculations around their relationship started when the actress dropped her surname from her Twitter handle. Rumours were rife that all was not well between Chaitanya and Samantha. Better known as ChaySam, the couple was reportedly not staying together.
