Cocktail 2 Movie Review: Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna serve a refreshing take on modern relationships

Film: Cocktail 2

Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna

Director: Homi Adajania

Rating: 4 Moons

Storyline

Kunal (Shahid Kapoor) and Diya (Rashmika Mandana) have been in a relationship for many years. Their love story, which started in college, has progressed with time, but now the difference in their thinking and expectations from each other is clearly visible. While Diya wants to take her relationship to the next level, Kunal is still living life with ease. During a trip to Sicily, they meet free spirited Ally (Kriti Sanon). After Ally's arrival, the equation of the relationship between the three begins to change. Entangled between friendship, attraction, love and trust, this story is not just a love triangle, but presents the complexities of relationships that today's generation can relate to.

Acting
Shahid Kapoor looks completely composed in his character. His work in emotional scenes leaves an impact and in many places he carries the story on his shoulders. Rashmika Mandana has played her character with simplicity and sensitivity. At the same time, Kriti Sanon emerges as the biggest highlight of the film. Her confidence, screen presence and capture of emotional scenes are superb. The chemistry between the three actors makes the film stronger.

Direction

Homi Adajania knows the art of bringing relationship-based stories to the big screen and ‘Cocktail 2’ is a good example of that. He does not favor the story of any one character, making every character's feelings and decisions seem real. The pace of the film is balanced and emotional moments are given enough time. The beautiful locations of Sicily also enhance the visual experience of the film.

Dialogue

The film's dialogues are one of its biggest strengths. They are not overly dramatic, but feel like real life conversations. Many dialogues about relationships and love say such things which are remembered for a long time. The dialogue works to give depth to the emotions of the characters.

Music

Pritam's music blends beautifully into the film's story. The songs are not forced anywhere, rather they are a natural part of the story. Both romantic and emotional tracks leave an impact and make many scenes more effective. The music reinforces the film's emotional journey.

Overall

‘Cocktail 2’ beautifully presents the changing definitions of love, friendship, trust and relationships on the big screen. If you love heartfelt and emotional stories, then you will enjoy ‘Cocktail 2’.
