Film: Ek Din
Cast: Junaid Khan, Sai Pallavi, Kunal Kapoor, Pragati Mishra,
Director: Sunil Pandey
Rating: 1.5 Moons
Storyline
The story starts with Dinesh Kumar Srivastava, aka Dino (Junaid Khan), a socially awkward guy who secretly loves his co-worker Meera Ranganathan (Sai Pallavi). She’s out of his league and he does not have the courage to express his feelings. During an office trip to Japan, a heartbroken Dino makes a wish at a famous Fortune Bell for Meera to be with him even if just for one day. After an unexpected accident, his wish comes true. But this one day soon turns messy and complicated, bringing confusion and chaos into both their lives. Whether they end up together forever or this remains just one day is what the story explores.
Acting
Sai Pallavi and the beautiful visuals of Japan are the only redeeming aspects of the film. Beyond that, everything else is disappointing and, at times, outright annoying. Junaid Khan looks tired throughout, as if he lacks interest in his performance.
Direction
Sunil Pandey draws inspiration from the Thai film ‘One Day’, but fails to do justice to the original. The storytelling feels dull, and even the romantic moments fail to leave an impact. The film struggles to evoke any real emotion, making it hard for the audience to stay invested.
Dialogues
Most of the dialogues delivered by Junaid come across as irritating. In fact, not a single dialogue or monologue in the film leaves a lasting impression.
Music
The only standout track in the film is the title song. The rest of the songs feel unnecessary and fail to enhance the narrative.
Overall
This one is best skipped. Don’t waste your money on it.
