Storyline

The film's story continues from the first part. Ayesha Khurana (Rakul Preet Singh) comes to Chandigarh from London to introduce her boyfriend, Ashish (Ajay Devgn), to her family. He is the same age as her father. She believes the atmosphere at home is happy, making it easier to tell the truth. With the help of her sister-in-law, she sets up the entire plan. Initially, the parents present themselves as modern and progressive, but once they learn the truth about her boyfriend’s age, the atmosphere completely changes. Amidst arguments, conflicts, and emotional breakdown, Ayesha leaves home. This is where the story takes a turn you wouldn't normally expect from a Bollywood rom-com and this is what leads the film to its true conflict and drama.

Acting

Ajay Devgn shows remarkable control in his performance, and after delivering a strong run of sequels like Drishyam 2, Singham Again, Son of Sardaar 2 and the recently released and successful Raid 2, he once again proves his ease with both maturity and comedy in the rom-com space. R. Madhavan forms the film’s emotional centre, bringing sincerity and quiet strength to his role as a father. Rakul Preet Singh is at her most natural and confident, while Meezaan Jafri’s charming entry instantly appeals to younger viewers. Jaaved Jaaferi delivers reliable laughs, and Gautami Kapoor, Ishita Dutta and Suhasini Mulay contribute effectively to the ensemble.

Direction

Anshul Sharma's direction is a key factor in keeping the film light, entertaining, and emotional. Managing such a large and diverse cast isn't easy, but he never lets the story falter. There's not a single moment in the film where you feel the story stalling. His treatment evokes the classic Luv Ranjan universe though the film is more family-oriented and emotional, which is what makes it special. The sparkling give-and-take between Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan is the soul of the film, and the last half hour is well worth the price of your ticket. This film proves that stories of family, relationships, and love can still connect with audiences, if they're told with truth, simplicity, and heart.

Dialogue

The dialogues written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain give the film a special edge. They are sharp, clever, and in everyday language, with both humor and the gravity of the situations. At times, the dialogues are self-deprecating, while at others, they are profound and accurate. The film clearly states what masculinity doesn't mean, and what it should mean that message comes through strongly.

Music

The film's music matches the tone of the story. The songs exude fun, love, and family warmth. The background score makes the emotional scenes even more impactful. The songs add to the film's pace and refresh the cinematic experience.

Overall

De De Pyaar De 2 is one of the cleanest family films of 2025. It's a film that young people, parents, and the entire family can comfortably watch together. It's entertaining, emotional, and carries a beautiful message. Must watch!
