Brooklyn 99's Captain Ray Holt, Andre Braugher, passes away at the age of 61

The nation woke up to the news of Emmy-winning actor Andre Braugher's demise. Known for playing the role of Captain Ray Holt in Brooklyn 99, he breathed his last at the age of 61 after a brief illness. The news of his demise was confirmed by the actor's publicist Jennifer Allen.

The publicist confirmed the news to The Associated Press. However, Jennifer didn't elaborate on the reason behind his untimely demise. An official statement from Andre's family is yet to be issued in the media. 

 

Born in Chicago, Andre immortalised the role of Captain Raymond Holt in the police procedural comedy series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine from 2013 until 2021. The actor won an Emmy for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on NBC’s Homicide: Life on Street in 1998.

The actor received yet another Emmy for a miniseries or movie for his performance as a master criminal for FX’s 2006 series Thief.

Andre was married to his Homicide co-star Ami Brabson for over 30 years and they had three sons.
